Chapter 9

Maithin

I think I age a century in the time between that sentence and Tiathéna’s tongue parting my folds with exquisite pleasure.

I forget that Muánne has gotten the best of us.

I forget that I’m sitting on a rock, bare to the world.

I forget everything except the feeling of Tiathéna’s tongue and lips on me.

She is as confident between my legs as she is with her bow. Her lips close around that sensitive nub and draw it into her mouth even as she slips two fingers inside me, coaxing me to stretch for her because it’s been so long—so long—since anyone touched me at all, let alone here.

My legs try to pull me off balance, so I lean back against the altar, the cold stone a rough contrast to the soft heat at my core. I grasp the edges of the altar, which is just wide enough for me not to worry about tumbling over the side of it, but still my feet are in the way, and I brace them as best I can.

Tiathéna’s tongue traces circles in my folds in time with the movement of her fingers, which she crooks against that spot just inside me with increasing pressure that builds so quickly, I forget about my legs and gravity and the rock scraping against my back and everything outside of her calculated movement because oh, gods, she is a god, and when she murmurs her own pleasure against my cleft and thrusts a third finger into me just as her lips and tongue pull back only to capture me all at once, I buck up against her as my climax shatters me like blown glass dropped on granite.

Her grip on my legs, supporting their weight, is all that keeps me from sliding off the edge of the rough stone to fall in a puddle at her feet. I prop myself up on my elbows just in time to see her smirk as she slides all three of her fingers into her mouth and licks them clean.

“Help me down,” I manage to get out, and with another mischievous wink, she lifts me back down exactly the way she hoisted me up there.

The desire I still feel despite the aftershocks of pleasure surprises me. All I know is that I have to feel her body against mine, all of her, skin to skin.

I don’t care if there are fire ants or ticks or anything else in the grass as I tug Tiathéna down beside me. The grass itself is lush and soft after the harsh rock of the altar, its dampness cool on a scrape I feel stinging at the side of my ribcage.

In one movement, I am on top of her, straddling her. Her golden-brown breasts sink only a little with gravity, and I lower myself down to take her nipple in my mouth, propping myself up with my elbow and finding her other breast with my free hand. Her nipple hardens in my mouth as I draw it between my lips, flicking my tongue over it, and Tiathéna makes a happy “Mmmm” of pleasure.
